Hudson Valley Now Receiving Nearly $10Million For Roadway Improvements
An update from Governor Hochul's Office this week about enhanced safety on New York roadways will have a direct impact here in the Hudson Valley. Of the $43 Million (plus) awarded to governments across New York State as part of the 'safe system approach towards zero deaths on state highways,' the Hudson Valley is set to receive about 23% of the allocation.

$43 Million Awarded to Local Governments in New York State
During the summer of 2024 the Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan was released by the NY State Department of Transportation, with a recommendation of reducing fatalities and serious injuries that stem from vehicles inadvertently departing their lanes or the roadway as a whole.
Since 2025, New York State has invested over $75 million to improve roadway safety to support signage, pavement markings, guide rails and general improvements to our roads and meet that recommendation.
As part of this, and the State Department of Transportation's 'Safe System Approach Towards Zero Deaths,' Governor Hochul has announced another round of funding to 'improve and enhance roadway safety by reducing instances of vehicles inadvertently straying from their lanes and lessening the severity of crashes that result from those instances.'

Keeping New Yorkers safe is my highest priority, and that includes making every effort to enhance safety on our roads for everyone who uses them. We are making unprecedented investments to reduce crashes and keep New Yorkers safe through common-sense improvements like guide rails, better signage and pavement markings. This funding deepens that commitment and supports local communities across our state with the resources they need to save lives.
