Hudson Valley Strip Club Fights To Reopen
A Hudson Valley strip club has filed suit against city officials who have blocked their reopening. LoHud reports Sue's Rendezvous in Mount Vernon hopes to find justice after they say attempts to re-open the club were met with resistance based on zoning issues.
The suit claims they were unfairly targeted after word reached City Hall they had plans to go back in business. Sue's originally closed in April of 2017, with owner Gaetano Gizzo sighting legal issues and changing clientele as reasons.
There is a clause in local zoning laws that say if a business stays vacant for more than a year, any rules that may have been grandfathered in, expire. The zoning code for the local neighborhood calls for no adult entertainment businesses. The suit claims city officials intentionally stalled work on the club to push it to a point where it could no longer operate legally. The city has doubts about Sue's original certificate of occupancy, so this one is headed to court.
Sue's Rendevous had a reputation for drawing celebrities. The NY Giants reportedly went there after their last Super Bowl victory and Jay-Z was seen there on numerous occasions.
