Quick reacting police officers are credited with saving a woman's life.

On Tuesday, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police responded to a 911 call in the Village of Unionville for a report of a 27-year-old woman who was not breathing and unresponsive.

While en route to the location, Orange County 911 advised they were giving CPR instructions to the caller and CPR had been started. Upon arrival on the scene, the woman was still not breathing and showing signs of an opioid overdose, police say.

Two doses of Narcan, a drug proven to reverse an opioid overdose, were given to the woman and then CPR was started again.

The woman began breathing again but was still unconscious, according to police. An additional dose of Narcan was administered and the woman regained consciousness, police say.

She was transported to the hospital by Greenville ambulance for observation.

“Thanks to the quick thinking of deputies and troopers, a life has been saved and provided a second chance and an opportunity to seek substance abuse help,” Sheriff Carl DuBois stated.
