Castle. This Is Us. Chicago P.D. The Walking Dead. These are just a couple of my favorite TV shows right now. We all have our favorites and we get emotionally attached with these characters and story lines. So much so that it breaks our hearts, just a little bit, when our favorites are canceled.

With that being said, it's always interesting to see who is watching what and where they might be tuning in. Lucky for us CableTV.Com researched Google trends and IMDB searches the past 12 months to come up with a list of the most popular TV show in every state.

I have to be honest, I was expecting a totally different outcome for New York. I was expecting Law and Order: SVU to top the most popular shows for the Empire State. However, Fox's Gotham is apparently the most watched show in New York.

Taking a look at our neighboring states favorite shows:

New Jersey: The Sopranos
Connecticut: Gossip Girl
Pennsylvania: Banshee
Massachusetts: Ray Donovan
Vermont: The X-Files

I guess looking at it this way it makes more sense. The Sopranos would clearly appeal to Jersey because of where it takes place and Gotham while a under the radar show for the most part, is loosely based off of New York. CableTV.Com went even further to breakdown how our TV choices are effected by who we are and it's actually quite interesting.

What's your favorite show? Is Gotham on your list?
