The weather this weekend is looking good to get outside and have some fun, and maybe, do a little fishing. What, you say you don’t have a fishing license? That isn’t a problem when you participate in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Free Fishing weekend.

The DEC sponsors free sport fishing events which are family fishing clinics. You can can fish for free; no freshwater fishing license or enrollment in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry is required.

Plus, you'll learn about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, fisheries management, angling ethics and aquatic ecology and it's all happening this weekend.

Here in the Hudson Valley, head to the Rondout Reservoir Free Family Fishing Day Clinic from 9 until 2 at the NYCDEP boat launch near intersection of Route 55A and Yagerville Road/Route 46.

Here's some other locations you can fish for free at this weekend around the state in case you're doing any travelling this weekend. Happy Fishing!
