Someone in the Hudson Valley may be carrying around a lottery ticket worth $50,000 and not even know it.

The New York Lottery has announced that not one, but two third-prize-winning Powerball tickets from Saturday night's drawing were sold in the Hudson Valley, and each ticket is worth a cool $50,000.

One of the lucky tickets was sold at the GK55 Shell station on Route 55 in Lagrangeville, right near the Taconic State Parkway. The other was purchased at Smokes 4 Less on North Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh, a store that's earned quite the reputation for selling winning lottery tickets.

If you stopped at either location and picked up a Powerball ticket before Saturday's drawing, now is probably a good time to check your pockets, wallet, glove box, or wherever you stash your lottery tickets.

Winning Powerball Numbers

Saturday night's winning Powerball numbers were 9, 14, 44, 50, 56, with a Powerball of 3.

Powerball numbers are drawn from a field of one to 69, while the red Powerball is selected from a separate field of one to 26. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

While everyone dreams of hitting the Powerball jackpot, winning $50,000 isn't exactly a bad consolation prize, right? It's enough to pay off some bills, take a trip, make a down payment on a house, or simply put away for the future.

The Hudson Valley has seen its fair share of lottery winners over the past year, with several six- and seven-figure prizes claimed across the region. Now, two more lucky players can add their names to that growing list.

The New York Lottery reminds players to sign the back of any winning ticket and keep it in a safe place until it's claimed. So before you toss that ticket in the trash or leave it sitting in your car, take another look. Two people in the Hudson Valley are $50,000 richer today. If you bought a ticket at either of these locations, make sure you check those numbers. One of those $50,000 winners could be you.
