Rhinebeck, NY Candy Shop Grabs "Best" Nomination, Needs Your Vote

A popular Hudson Valley candy shop was nominated as one of the "Best" in the US, but they need your help to officially grab the title.

Throughout the year, USA TODAY sends its experts to visit different towns, restaurants, and shops nationwide. While touring the US these experts collect data about the places they visit.

You may have seen articles about towns in the Hudson Valley that were named Best in the Northeast or Best Pumpkin Patches when we get closer to the fall season. According to USA Today, the nominees for these lists are "submitted by a panel of experts. 10Best editors narrow the field to select the final set of nominees for the Readers’ Choice Awards."

Readers can then vote once a day until voting closes. One of the 10Best lists currently active is for Best Candy Store...and there's a Hudson Valley business inching closer to the top.

Rhinebeck, New York Candy Shop The Best in The US?

Samuels Sweet Shop on East Market Street in Rhinebeck, New York is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

Ira Gutner opened the doors to Samuel's back in 1994 and ran the storefront until his untimely passing in 2014. Ira built quite a relationship with the Rhinebeck community and after his death, they came together to ensure the store stayed open.

Rhinebeck residents, who you may have heard of before, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Hilarie Burton, Paul & Julie Rudd, Andy Ostroy, and John Weaver made a move to take over Samuel's and keep Ira's memory alive.

With that being said, thousands of fans and locals have made Samuel's a stop on their visits to Rhinebeck picking up delicious treats like chocolates, cookies, gummy candies and their delicious coffee selections.

USA Today took all of that into consideration and their experts nominated Samuel's Sweet Shop at one of their 10Best. As of Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, Samuel's is sitting at #7 in the nation!

You can vote once at day at the 10Best USA Today website until Monday, June 10th.
