House Fire in Dutchess County, NY
Life loss at any fire is a first responder's worst nightmare and when it happens, it not only affects the first responders on the scene but also all of the members of surrounding departments that have ever responded to a similar fire.
Over the years the Fairview Fire Department in Poughkeepsie, NY has had to deal with tragic fires and as news of the fire in the town of Clinton began to circulate Fairview Fire District Deputy Chief Robert Ridley shared a heartfelt message on the department's Facebook page saying,
"Last night, as many of us sat comfortably in our homes or stations, we heard the call every firefighter dreads. The alarm sounded with news of a house fire, escalating into reports of occupants trapped—children among them. It’s the worst-case scenario, one that no amount of training can make easier. And yet, as word spread, you responded without hesitation."
Unimaginable Circumstances
Ridley went on to explain that although Fairview was not at the tragic scene of the fire "we stood with you in spirit, every step of the way."
He went on to say,
"No matter what department you represented, you played to win. Just from listening in, it was evident that you were pushing beyond limits, doing everything possible in the face of unimaginable circumstances."
