Krampus Scheduled As Special Guest At Yule Night Market

There are so many holiday celebrations this time of year but the 5th Annual Yule Oddities & Curiosities Night Market might be the most unusual. This is the perfect place to find a gift for that certain someone on your list.

Night Markets have been around for quite a few years now in the Hudosn Valley. They offer an opportunity to shop for and see items that you might not find at your everyday shop. I attended the first night market that was held at Locust Grove which is where this event will take place this Friday night from 6 PM to 11 PM.

Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie Will Be the Site of the Yule Night Market

Moon, Serpent, and Bone Oddities & Curiosities have been hosting these types of markets all over the Hudson Valley. They just had one at Revel 32 in Poughkeepsie in October and before that at City Winery in Montgomery in June.

The event on Friday has doors opening at 6 PM. You are invited to discover the sinister side of the holiday season. You will get to discover hidden dark treasures designed by unique crafters. There will be magick makers, artist taxidermist psychics, and Krampus.

Who is Krampus

You may have attended Sinterklaas in Rhinebeck this past weekend and seen all kinds of imaginary creatures but you haven't seen anything until you have witnessed Krampus in person.  PBS put together a great video to explain this Christmas Monster that somehow follows Santa around.

I am still not sure I completely understand all that Krampus stands for beyond tracking down naughty children but I will say he adds an interesting twist on the holiday.
