We live in such a beautiful area! Over the past couple of years, there’s been people who have moved to the Hudson Valley and are thankful that they did.

Our area is filled with plenty of nature and hiking trails along with local eateries and breweries for a dine in experience. The rich, historical background of the Hudson Valley area allows us to explore the historic sites and learn about the past.

Did You Know That These Hudson Valley Towns Used To Be Called Something Else?


94.3 Lite FM shared fascinating information about the historic influences of the Hudson Valley and what towns used to be referred to.

Rhinebeck, NY was once known as Kipsbergen while New Paltz was once known as Old Paltz. Hurley, NY had one of the most interesting names, Nieuw Dorp!

While we can’t deny the historical sites and lessons of the Hudson Valley, there may be residents who overlook this and want to head to another state.

It would be ideal to have two homes, one in New York state within the Hudson Valley and another one to travel to. I look forward to spending summers in the Hudson Valley while being somewhere warm in the winter. Snowbirds have the smart idea of following this trend which usually leads them to Florida

A poll was taken on 92.7/96.9 WRRV’s social media platforms. The question asked,

“I always see contests that are giving away dream homes in different states! If you had the option, which state would you choose?-Allison”

Facebook users were eager to share their responses, along with Instagram users as well.

With no surprise, Florida was the number one choice of where Hudson Valley residents would want to move to. I love Florida for many reasons including the beaches, beautiful palm trees and most importantly, the hot weather!

Would You Want To Move To Any Of These Fan Favorite States?


The poll continued with more responses in addition to Florida. Also on the list of places where Hudson Valley residents would want to move included South and North Carolina. In addition to Florida, I also love the Carolinas for their beaches and warmer weather as well. 

Another Facebook user included Virginia Beach as their choice of where to move to from the Hudson Valley! It seems as if all of these states have something in common, warmer weather and beaches which speaks to me as well.

Lastly, there was one state that I voted to move to as my second/dream home and that would be California. On Facebook and Instagram, users shared their feedback about how it would be to live in California.

Until then, let’s soak up all that the Hudson Valley has to offer, it’s truly a beautiful area to live in. We would love to hear which state you would like to move to. This could mean having a second home or winning a dream home in the state of your choice.
