Big Delays Expected in the Hudson Valley Because of Ceremony
Officials are warning one Hudson Valley town to prepare for potential delays, but it's all for a good reason.
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year, the sun is shining bright, the weather is awesome, it's summer and a ton of students are about to begin an exciting new chapter of their life.
Yes, that last part I mentioned was graduating from high school.
I remember graduating from high school like it was just yesterday and there were so many mixed emotions on it. I was super excited to head off to college because I knew it was going to be one of the best chapters of my life, I was also nervous and couldn't believe I was finally done with high school, I had just moved right before high school so it was a bit of deja-vu leaving and it was just crazy that high school was officially over.
Many students feel like this way and it's one of the most exciting and terrifying times for students.
John Jay High School is located in Dutchess County and the East Fishkill Highway Department recently put out a warning to residents about the potential for a pretty big traffic jam that could happen in a few days.
Why is there the potential for a huge traffic jam in the East Fishkill/Hopewell Junction area?
It's for a good reason, the John Jay High School graduation ceremony will be taking place on Wednesday, June 26th and heavy delays are expected on Route 52 between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and again between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Officials are asking people to try to find an alternate route during that time, but if you do have to drive in the area they are asking everyone to be extra cautious because of large volume of traffic and people expected.
The potential traffic is for an awesome reason though.
