It was reported that Deputies responded to a report of a violent assault on Ridge Road in the Town of Hurley. Upon their response to Ridge Road, the officers received a 911 call from the victim himself, who in an attempt to drive himself to the hospital, called 911 to report that 'he was not going to make it because he was losing a massive amount of blood.'

The report goes on to detail that the victim was located in his vehicle on Route 28, where the Ulster County Sheriff's Deputy found him with multiple life-threatening stab wounds, and thankfully, was able to apply a tourniquet and chest seals, which 'ultimately saved the victim’s life.'

Investigation Follows February 2023 Attack in Hurley

Several agencies provided support to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office with the investigation including the US Marshals Service, Ulster Police Department, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Kingston Police, New York State Police, Peekskill Police, and NY/NJ HIDTA.

Investigative efforts discovered that prior to the attack on February 11th, Sagastume had allegedly been stalking a female, and confronted her in the presence of the male victim.

Sagastume attacked both the male and female victim and during the assault it is alleged Mainor Sagastume stabbed the male multiple times and then fled the scene. The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office searched for Mainor Sagastume; however through investigation it was determined he had fled the State of New York.

Reports indicate that Sagastume was indicted by a Grand Jury in Ulster County in June 2023 for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Stalking in the Second Degree, all felony charges, and two counts of Stalking in the Fourth Degree, a misdemeanor.
