A Kingston man is behind bars for allegedly selling a large amount of heroin in the Hudson Valley.

In early Oct., after neighborhood complaints, the Kingston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit began an investigation into illegal narcotics near the Rondout Garden Apartment complex.

On Monday, 27-year-old Zuriahmad E. Thaker of Kingston was arrested in response of the complaints. A large amount of heroin and cash was seized during the arrest, police say.

Thaker was transported to the Kingston Police Department where he was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Thaker was arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bail bond.
