Former correspondents for the Daily Show just keep on knocking it out of the park. Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Ed Helms, Rob Corddry, Josh Gad, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Mo Rocca, Demetri Martin... okay, look: I could just keep listing people who have been on the show and have gone on to serious levels of showbiz success, but instead, I'll talk about one who has had the massive task of taking over Stephen Colbert's time slot and absolutely crushing it.

Larry Wilmore is a guy with a resume that everyone in Hollywood wishes they had. He's written for beloved, classic shows (in addition to The Daily Show, he's written for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In Living Color, The Office), created successful TV shows (The Bernie Mac Show), and won prestigious awards (Peabody Award, Emmys). Next step: becoming an iconic host of his own.

Brandi and I talked with him about what it's like to replace a beloved host, how he's not afraid to talk about anything at all, and how much material the news of 2015 has given him.
