Make Homemade Bread With Hudson Valley Beers
Plenty of people have picked up baking during quarantine. What better thing to bake than Hudson Valley products?
Just like everyone else, I have been cooking up a storm. One thing that I see a lot of people making is bread. I also see a lot of people drinking beer in quarantine. So why not combine BOTH things to get the best of both worlds?!
I saw online a bread kit for Beer Bread and I instantly bought it. Didn't even read reviews or check out how many steps there were. I was pleasantly surprised by all of it. I got my beer bread kit from Pampered Chef. It was $12 plus shipping and tax for two kits. I thought it was a pretty good deal. But if you're into doing it homemade style, I just found a beer bread recipe from Food.com. The pictures look pretty similar.
This beer bread was super easy to make. Using the kit I bought, all I had to do was add 12 ounces of beer. Then add in the mixture from the kit, stir, pour in a bread pan, drizzle but on top, the end! I had it in a 350 degree F oven for 50 minutes and it was perfect.
The beer that I used to make this beer bread was Newburgh Brewing Company's All That IPA. I'm really not an IPA person but I had a gut feeling the hops in the beer would be a good flavor. I was right too because it was absolutely delicious. But there are so many breweries in the Hudson Valley that make incredible beer to use in this bread. I really love Keegan Ales Joe Mama's Milk. I think the coffee flavor in that stout would add a nice deep flavor to this bread. Millhouse Brewing Company has a killer Kolsch that has a nice mild flavor that I think would be great in beer bread too. You can really use whatever beer you want but why not support some local breweries right now?
My beer bread had a cornbread like consistency. It was also a little sweet. I put some soft butter on it and it was delicious. My next goal is to make eggs benedict over this bread instead of an English muffin. Wish me luck and I wish you luck in making your bread
