An Ulster County Judge sentenced a man with a long history of DWI to jail.

Michael Mink,40, was sentenced by the Honorable Richard Mott to one year in the Ulster County Jail for his conviction after trial for driving while intoxicated, a felony, 1st-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and circumvention of ignition interlock device.

In February of 2014, Mink drove while intoxicated and his license revoked from a prior felony DWI conviction. Mink also didn’t have an ignition interlock device installed in his car, as was court ordered.

The Ulster County District Attorney’s Office recommended that the defendant be sentenced to state prison, arguing that based upon Mink’s criminal history he presents a risk to the public.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Mink has now been convicted of felony DWI in 2015 and 2011. In 2011 he was sentenced to one year in jail for his felony DWI conviction in Albany. In addition, Mink has a misdemeanor DWI in 2001 and two convictions for driving while ability impaired by alcohol in 1998 and 1993.
