The Marist College men's and woman's basketball season kicks off with both teams on the road Friday. The men will square off with top ranked Duke while the women play Hofstra.

The meeting with Duke will be the first between the two schools and will serve as the opening game of the Hall of Fame Tip Off Classic. This will be season three for coach Mike Maker and although the team has struggled in recent years, this year could be different. All five starters are returning, as are those responsible for 90% of points scored last year. The team will look to rebound from a 7-23 record last year.

The women's team will look to recover from the loss of dominant inside presence Tori Jarosz, who graduated and tried out for the WNBA earlier this year. Head coach Brian Giorgis will look to get the most out of talented young players like Allie Clement who was just selected as a pre-season third team All-Conference. A pre-season poll predicts the women's team will finish fourth in the MAAC.
