A beloved Ulster County restaurant took to social media to confirm a rumor that their loyal customers are calling "awful" and "heartbreaking".
It's never been an easy ride for any small business owner, but it seems like local restaurants have had a tougher time than most. With several Ulster County dining destinations closing just months after their grand openings in recent months, the landscape might be more challenging than ever.
New Restaurants Struggling in the Hudson Valley
That's not to say that other local businesses aren't opening their doors to rave reviews and strong support. Highland's most recent addition, for example, seems to have made instant fans of their specialty cuisine. Unfortunately, even "favorite" restaurants need to make tough decisions.
Medo Woodstock Confirms "Rumor"
"Hello friends from Woodstock and friends elsewhere, unfortunately the rumors you might have heard are true", Medo recently shared on Instagram (below). "At least for a short time our beautiful little restaurant will be closing its doors"
Medo Woodstock Announces Closure
Medo, a Japanese restaurant helmed by Nobu-trained chef and owner Kevin Lin, was a gem for Hudson Valley residents in Woodstock and beyond. The news was met not only with sadness, but support.

"We’re hoping for a 2.0 resurrection! Please reach out if there’s anything we can do to help", commented fellow Hudson Valley business Moonrise Bagels. "Best restaurant to open in the area in years. Please let the community know how we can help make Medo 2.0 possible!", offered a former customer.
