We are all guilty of it --- even if we own a shredder --- having a pile, a bag, or even a box of documents that need shredding, am I right?

This Saturday, August 3rd, Riverside Bank, A Division of Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, is offering a community shred day, free of charge.  The branch is located at 701 Route 9, Suite 7, in Fishkill, and shredding will take place from 9am until 12pm.

Though the event itself has no charge, organizers are encouraging those wishing to participate to bring a non-perishable food donation.  In a facebook post by the Village of Fishkill:

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation as well. Local pantries are in need of a variety of donations including canned goods, cereals, macaroni and cheese, cake mix, peanut butter, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and tomato sauce. Household necessities such as paper towels, diapers, shampoo, and soap are also appreciated.

As you prepare your documents for the shred event, please be aware that each person is permitted to bring up to 4 boxes of paper, though no binders are allowed.  Shredding is provided by Legal Shred personnel, and all shredded paper will be recycled.

If you are having a hard time deciding what to keep, what's ready to hit the shred pile, and even how long to hold onto certain documents, check out this article from thespruce.com that will help you to easily go through your files at home!

Happy organizing!
