Mike Shinoda’s Sock Puppet ‘Ghosts’ Video Adds Fun Charm to Emotional Song
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda has been focusing on his solo career since the death of Chester Bennington. His Post-Traumatic EP dealt with the emotions of losing his friend and bandmate and his full length effort, also titled Post-Traumatic, walks the same path and a new video for "Ghosts" has been released and can be viewed above.
"I've had enough hard days. It's like if I wake up and feel good, I shouldn't feel guilty about having fun," says Shinoda while sitting in front of his computer in the opening moments of the clip. While the subject matter of "Ghosts" is intensely personal, the video takes a more lighthearted approach predominantly featuring sock puppets, perhaps alluding to Shinoda's notion of "fun."
"I had been writing these songs and they were both helping me navigate both emotionally and logically," Shinoda said of the upcoming release. "There wasn't going to be any clear answers. We're just going to have to wait and see and go with the flow. It’s a journey out of grief and darkness, not into grief and darkness. If people have been through something similar, I hope they feel less alone. If they haven’t been through this, I hope they feel grateful.”
Post-Traumatic is comprised of 16 tracks and is set for a June 15 release. The album will also include the three tracks that made up the Post-Traumatic EP and features guests like Deftones' Chino Moreno, Machine Gun Kelly, K. Flay and Blackbear.
