Moonrise Bagels Opens Fourth Store — First in New York City
The History of Moonrise Bagels
Back in 2021, Ali Chetkof and Jeremy Rhodes were living in Woodstock and trying to get through life at the time like most of us: experimenting in the kitchen.
Jeremy was making bagels and the couple decided to use left over pizza toppings and stuff it into bagels for their friends for a New Years Eve party. And just like that a bagel phenomenon was born.
Enter Moonrise Bagels, home of the original stuffed bagel.
Ali and Jeremy started selling their creation out of their home in Woodstock, and as word spread they opened their first storefront. They began stuffing their bagels with fillings like Bacon, Egg and Cheese, Buffalo Chicken and Pastrami.
Since then, Moonrise Bagels has become the talk of the town with now 3 locations in the Hudson Valley. After Woodstock, a location in Poughkeepsie opened across from Marist University and in early 2025 a smaller shop opened on Broadway in Kingston. Moonrise Bagels continues to grow with a 4th location open for business.
Moonrise Bagels Opens 4th Location Outside of the Hudson Valley
After becoming massively popular in the Hudson Valley, Ali and Jeremey have expanded their bagel business to New York City. On December 5th, 2025, Moonrise NYC opened up their doors. On Instagram Ali and Jeremey write "Months and months of hard work & planning, and yet typing this still doesn’t feel real."
What made their NYC opening even more special was it that opening day landed "almost exactly 4 years to the day" since they opened up their first location in Woodstock.
They write:
Just the two of us in our first tiny shop with so much to learn, hoping people would give our strange little stuffed bagel idea a chance. We never imagined it would take us here, back to where we first met & fell in love 10 years ago.
Ali and Jeremey thanked their community that supported and believed in them which in turn helped them "grow far beyond" what they could even imagine, they add " To everyone who has been part of this story—thank you. Truly. We feel your support behind us every step of the way and it’s what powers us through on those tough days (because believe me, there are many)."
If you're ever in New York City and craving a stuffed bagel, visit Moonrise Bagels at 58 W 8th Street open 7 am to 3 pm every day.
Award Winning Bagels From Moonrise Bagels
In 2024 Moonrise Bagels took home a top honor from Bagel Fest: Most Creative.
Unfortunately, they weren't able to participate at Bagel Fest this year due to being busy with opening their 4th location. However, their 2024 win left a lasting impression.
