It's no surprise that many people plan their winter travels to warm weather hot spots and tropical destinations, but why not trade that for beautiful local scenery, hot tubs alongside fire pits, an evening next to a wood burning stove and snow-filled activities this year?

Glamping, heard of it?  It's where nature and luxury meet up to provide you with a camping like experience with all sorts of great comforts.

Travelpirates.com recently published an article about 'New York State Winter Glamping" spots, and highlighted quite a few Hudson Valley locations for a reasonable price and  perfect for a scenic winter getaway.  They "rounded up some of the most unique and beautiful spots, from yurts to treehouses to log cabins."

Saugerties makes the list quite a few times, with one location being referred to as a 'hand crafted timbered hut' and another as 'a charming and secluded cabin.'  One of the locations in Marlboro is known as 'the world's most beautiful tiny house' - these descriptions make it hard to not want to throw some stuff in a suitcase and head off for the weekend right now.

What do you say, would you be willing to swap the sand for snow for your next getaway?
