Beck
Elon Musk isn't the only one with space on the mind. Beck teamed up with NASA for a visual version of his 2019 album Hyperspace. According to Consequence of Sound, Beck used A.I. to created the imaging and visualizations for the album. Each song on the album has a specific celestial body and iconic NASA mission paired with it. grandson
grandson has finally dropped his first full-length album today titled Death of an Optimist. The album features 12 tracks. Like most of grandson's catalog, the album tackles politics but this album focuses on hope.
24kGoldn
24kGoldn taps another rap artist for his new song "Coco". Rapper DaBaby is on the new single and it's all about dating women, or, how he isn't. Take a listen below.
Bastille
Bastille surprised everyone today when they release a brand new EP titled Goosebumps. The title track features Kenny Beats and the entire EP has 5 tracks. Bastille told NME that creating this EP was a great distraction during the pandemic. Listen to the title track here.
Arctic Monkeys
This new album from Arctic Monkeys was actually recorded in 2018 at one of their live shows. Their new drop Love at The Royal Albert Hall is a recorded performance of their June 7, 2018 performance. Proceeds from the album will support the War Child UK charity, just like the live show, according to Consequence of Sound. Check it out below.
Death Cab for Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie released a new EP entirely of covers called The Georgia. According to Consequence of Sound, all the artists covered are from the State of Georgie to benefit Stacey Abram's Fair Fight Action organization. This organization fights voter suppression. TLC and R.E.M. are just a couple of the artists covered. Check out the Neutral Milk Hotel song they covered.
The White Stripes
The White Stripes have released their greatest hits album, titled The White Stripes Greatest Hits. It features some of their biggest tracks like "Seven Nation Army" and "The Hardest Button To Button". Listen to the track "Icky Thump" that's also on the album here.
YUNGBLUD
After dropping the title track in November, YUNGBLUD has officially released his album Weird!. The album seems to be getting mixed reviews. The Irish Times calls it a "pop-indie-rock bullseye" while The Arts Desk says it "sounds fizzy and enormous but lacks rebel spirit". Listen to the title track below.
Evanescence
The new track from Evanescense takes aim at the music industry. It's titled "Yeah Right" and lead singer Amy Lee brings up fair pay in the industry. Evanescence also announced that their new album The Bitter Truth will be released in March 2021. Take a listen to the new single below.
Reissues, Vinyl Releases, and More
Spacehog released a vinyl reissue of The Chinese Album. Nirvana released a special transparent yellow vinyl of Sounds Like Teen Spirit. Coldplay released a limited-edition blue vinyl of "Christmas Lights" for the holidays.
