Those Crazy-Looking Postal Trucks Have Arrived Early In New York
The wait is finally over, and the brand new United State Postal Service trucks (with a face only a mother could love) are officially on the road in the Hudson Valley.
As the USPS shared, many of their standard delivery vehicles, known as "Long Life Vehicles", have been in service for more than thirty years, and were more than ready for an upgrade. The change, however, is startling.
New USPS Delivery Vehicles Replacing Old Models in New York
Not only were the older trucks small, but they lacked many modern conveniences, like air conditioning. While the new trucks are certainly anything but pretty, they were an early hit with postal workers who tested them before release (more on that later). Now, they're in the Hudson Valley.
New USPS Delivery Vehicles Spotted in the Hudson Valley
With the rollout of new vehicles planned through 2028, Hudson Valley residents wouldn't be blamed for their surprise at already seeing them on local roads. New York's rural counties might be high on the priority list, however, as evidenced by the truck spotted in Orange County, NY.
The "Ugly" New Trucks That Postal Workers Love
There's no doubt that these trucks won't be winning any beauty pageants (one postal worker said "you can tell they didn't have appearance in mind" when designing the truck), it's what on the inside that counts.
Improvements with New USPS Delivery Vehicles
The first obvious difference between the old LLVs and the new postal truck models is the size, which allows delivery drivers to more comfortable access their packages. New technology (like air conditioning and safety features) as well as better visibility are welcome changes as well.

As officials shared, their priority is to begin the rollout by sending the new vehicles to areas that need them most (only 100 vehicles were produced in 2025), before ramping up production and delivering tens of thousands of new vehicles by 2028. Speaking of the postal service, check out some postal worker confessions (starting with how much they hated they old trucks) below.
