Nothing says October like a run in the dark.

It's officially October and we're getting closer and closer to that spooky time of year. Some people like to celebrate the season in different ways like going to apple orchards or haunted houses and some just feel like running.

The weather is getting a little bit cooler and it's perfect running weather.

2020 has been a weird year for racing. It's been a real bummer if this was going to be your year for entering local 5k races or eve bigger races like the NYC Marathon. Almost all big races over the summer went virtual. Many runners are thankful that races are getting back to some form of normal.

Runners in the Hudson Valley are gearing up for big race this weekend. According to their website, this Saturday the Third Annual Red Wing After Hours 8k will be held at Red Wing Recreation Area in Lagrangeville. The race time is not at the same time that traditional races start. The race is set to begin at 7:30pm right after it gets dark.

The race requires a headlamp for safety purposes.

In the past the race allowed runners to register on the day of the event on site but according to their website, due to COVID-19 they only allow racers to pre register.

Social distancing is encouraged while running in the event and mask are required at check in. Runners are ready for a competitive race in the Hudson Valley that's not tracked virtually.
