Orange Couny, NY Department of Health to Hold Listening Sessions
If you have issues, comments and concerns about your local community, the best way to make a change is to get involved. Nothing gets improved unless it is acknowledged. Speak up and make your voice heard if there is something that needs to be addressed. Winston Churchill said "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile- hoping it will eat him last." The longer we let issues fester, the bigger the issues can potentially become. One of my favorite Will Rogers quotes is "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." Be active. Be present. Be heard.
Orange County, NY Department of Health Listening Sessions
Orange County Government and Orange County Department of Health are giving the community a few incredible in-person opportunities to be vocal and offer feedback relating to health concerns.
Residents are welcome at any of the listening sessions. Both sessions will go on from 6 pm to 8 pm . The sessions are as follows:
May 18th: Town of Chester Town Hall, 1786 Kings Hwy, Chester, NY 10918
May 23rd: City of Newburgh, Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington St, Newburgh, NY 12550
May 25th: City of Newburgh, Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington St, Newburgh, NY 12550
Each meeting will include a brief introduction and PowerPoint presentation by the Health Department, followed by a community-led discussion. Health Commissioner Dr. Irina Gelman and her team are trying to gather valuable feedback from communities relating to health concerns and priorities at each session.
Community Asset Survey
Residents are also encouraged to take the Community Asset Survey (CAS). The Department of Health wishes to use this tool to find out the strengths and weaknesses in the community, and asking what health issues should be prioritized the most. The survey only takes a couple of minutes, so it won't take too much to have your voice heard.
