Pearl Jam Plot Audio-Visual ‘Gigaton’ Listening Experience
Gigaton Listening Experience, which utilizes Dolby's surround sound technology Atmos, is set for more than 200 theaters worldwide on March 25. "Since this immersive sound system is still new to the consumer market, Pearl Jam fans will have a unique opportunity to hear the album in a completely different way," reads a description on the band's website. Ticket information is available at the link.
The record's producer, Josh Evans, enthused about the event's sonic possibilities. "It's truly a unique way to experience this album," he said in a statement. "I'm excited for fans to be able to immerse themselves in the sound and to hear the depth and layers of these songs and performances."
The band teamed with "event cinema" company Abramorama for the screening, which marks its fourth theatrical collaboration following a pair of Danny Clinch-directed concert films, 2007's Immagine in Cornice and 2017's Lets Play Two, along with Cameron Crowe's 2011 documentary Pearl Jam Twenty.
The quintet teased Gigaton Listening Experience with a trailer soundtracked by the LP's second single, "Superblood Wolfmoon." You can watch it below. In addition to releasing that track and "Dance of the Clairvoyants," Pearl Jam issued album closer "River Cross" in Verizon's recent Super Bowl ad.
