A Hudson Valley man was arrested over allegations that he struck a three-year-old child.

On Wednesday around 11:30 p.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported domestic dispute at a home on New Salem Road in the Town of Esopus.

Arriving officers determined that a physical dispute had occurred. A further investigation revealed that 40-year-old John J. Ronk of Esopus hit a three-year-old child, police say.

he child was evaluated by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad and was determined to have suffered minor injuries.
Ronk was charged with the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child and the violation of harassment.

Ronk was arrested and transported to the Esopus substation. He was arraigned in the Town of Esopus Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or $1,000.00 secured bond.
