An Orange County man is accused of trying to steal items from a local ShopRite with a knife.

On Wednesday morning, Monroe police arrived at ShopRite following reports of a man using a knife to try and steal merchandise. In addition to theft, 21-year-old Shaun Cohen of Chester is also accused of fighting with security guards.

Police located Cohen and say he was in possession of a switchblade knife. Authorities were later told by store security that Cohen assaulted them, bit one security guard in the arm, and attempted to pull his knife out on them.

Other than the bite, no other injuries were reported.

Cohen was charged with first-degree robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property. He is being held at the Monroe Police Department awaiting arraignment.
