Real Talk: Christmas Cookies & Distribution

As the 2 week countdown to Christmas is officially on I guess it is safe to say we are officially in prime cookie baking season.  According to msn.com, the most popular Christmas cookie in NY state is the black and white, which I 150% don't agree with, but that's just my opinion.  Peanut butter cookies with the Hershey kiss in the middle rank number 1 in 7 states, and NY is not one of those, but I digress...

I have a serious question to put out there with regard to holiday baking - is everyone particular about their cookie baking and distribution, or is it only the people I associate with?

Let me explain - for as long as I can remember, my immediate family has planned a cookie baking day (or two) each holiday season.  Comfy clothes, usually wine, and assembly line production of various types of cookies.  Everyone knows their role, everyone knows what to bring, and things typically go off without a hitch.  What's on your menu you ask?  "Mimi Loaves" - which are a biscotti like chocolate chip/nut loaf lovingly named after my grandma, Italian twist cookies, and your standard butter cookies in the press like these:

Here's where things get a little weird - when we start dividing up the cookies for distribution outside the family, we are pretty particular about who gets what.  Oh THOSE aren't for gifting, or so-and-so doesn't get that kind...is there some unwritten cookie distribution law I'm not aware of?  Is it because we used the good sprinkles on that batch?  What am I missing here?

I have a friend who recently told me she was asked to NOT participate in the baking festivities this year - say what now?!

Anyone else have family/friends that are picky about who gets what when it comes to cookies?  Are there family members that don't get to participate in your annual baking day?
