A large reward is being offered after police believe the old Hudson River Psychiatric Center was purposely set on fire.

On Friday around 3:45 a.m., firefighters were dispatched for a report of smoke in the area of Fulton Street. Firefighters found smoke coming from the area of the old Hudson River Psychiatric Center.

A fire was found in the wing of the old Main Administration building and after a large amount of the blaze was knocked down, it was determined that the fire extended into the main building requiring additional ladders and fire apparatus to the scene to control the fire, officials say.

The fire was completely put out at 5:22 p.m., over 12 hours after it started. No one was injured, according to the Fairview Fire District.

An investigation determined the fire was intentionally set, officials say. Anyone with information is asked to call Town of Poughkeepsie police at (845) 485-3666. The developers of the property are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) who started the fire.
