Cheers to 39 Years of the Poughkeepsie Galleria
The Poughkeepsie Galleria recently took us on a major trip down memory lane. Shared photos prompted plenty of Facebook and Instagram comments filled with memories all in honor of the mall's 39th birthday.

The Poughkeepsie Galleria is Almost 'Over the Hill'
One year ahead of the big 4-0, the Poughkeepsie Galleria, Dutchess County's 'ONLY enclosed shopping center and premier shopping destination for the area' celebrated the opening of their doors back in August of 1987.

39 years of serving the area with more than 120 national and local stores (at a given time), all under one roof, plus kids entertainment options, a movie theater, and always expanding dining options both quick serve and sit down.
The mall took a deep dive into the archives, pulling out photos from years prior including the one below, from 2012, celebrating their 25th anniversary:

They even went as far back as letting us take a peek at the early stages of mall construction during the '80's, recognize this?

Our Favorite Poughkeepsie Galleria Memories?
An easy question to answer, as we've had so many amazing events at the Poughkeepsie Galleria over the years. Most notably, our Shop With A Cop campaign, where we raise funds to send local kids on shopping sprees just ahead of the holidays with members of local law enforcement.

Filling up center court with all of the children, their families, our staff and the dozens and dozens of officers that make the event possible - one of the best photos of the year, truly.
On a personal note, as someone who grew up in Fishkill, I have so many fond Poughkeepsie Galleria memories. The most notable has to be during my high school years before Macy's moved in, Filene's was one of the anchor stores in the mall and home to Ticketmaster. Long before sitting in concert ticket queues on everything I own with internet on it, we used to camp outside the Galleria overnight to be the first in line to run through the store when they opened the doors, to the small Ticketmaster desk, and every time, no matter what, we always ended up getting tickets in the last row of the venue.
I'm thankful for those days and how the last row shaped me into the person I am today (aka, a fan club member with early access to presale for the bands I can't imagine sitting in the last row for). I digress.
These days, the time spent in the Galleria parking lot is for driving our annual Shopper Shuttle around to benefit Shop With A Cop, and help holidays shoppers get their purchases to and from the mall.

So, thanks Poughkeepsie Galleria for 39 years of fun, shopping, Center Court events, parking lot advrntures and memories, and don't forget us when it comes to planning for your big 4-0 celebration!
