A driver who was pulled over for allegedly not wearing his seatbelt ended up being wanted in Orange County and in possession of a lot of drugs

New York State Police from Montgomery pulled a car over on Interstate 84 east in the Town of Newburgh.

A probable cause search revealed that the driver, 31-year-old Andrew I Ocasio of Newburgh Ocasio, was in possession of about 17 grams of cocaine, several plastic bags, 2 digital scales, and a glass smoking pipe containing marijuana residue, police say.

Ocasio was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and two-counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Ocasio is also accused of driving with a non-driver ID only and was wanted by New Windsor police in regards to an active warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor.

Ocasio was arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court and remanded Ocasio to Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $5,000 bond. Ocasio was ordered to return to Town of Newburgh Court on Feb. 21.
