In the quiet town of Poughkeepsie, New York, the disappearance of 31-year-old Anthony "Tony" Urciuoli has remained a haunting mystery for more than two decades. On the night of January 24, 2001, Tony told his parents that a friend had paged him to play a game of pool. By morning, he was gone—without a trace.

A Vanishing Without a Trace

Tony's mother, Sandra, awoke to find her son's room empty. The last conversation with Tony was casual, with no signs of distress or indication that something was amiss. "Sandy woke me up and said, 'Tony never came home,'" his father, Anthony, later recalled to The Poughkeepsie Journal. What followed was a bewildering search for answers that would stretch on for years.

The Car, The Wallet, But No Clues

The next day, Tony’s car was found parked at Spratt Park, but there were no signs of a struggle. His wallet was still locked inside the vehicle, and no forensic evidence was found at the scene to explain his sudden disappearance. The police were unable to trace the page Tony received the night he vanished, leaving detectives at a standstill. “There’s no concrete evidence either way,” said Town Detective Michael O'Dell in 2004.

A Hard-Working Young Man with No Enemies

Those who knew Tony, including his coworkers at the Dutchess Diner, described him as a hard-working, trouble-free individual. His parents refused to believe that their son would have willingly walked away from his life. They were certain he didn’t leave on his own.

The Search for Answers Continues

In the years since, Tony’s parents have tirelessly sought answers. They appeared on The Montel Williams Show with psychic Sylvia Browne, offered substantial rewards, and hired private detectives. Vigil after vigil was held in Spratt Park, but despite all efforts, Tony’s whereabouts remain a mystery. To this day, no one knows what truly happened to Anthony Urciuoli—was he abducted, murdered, or did he vanish without a trace? The mystery remains unsolved.
