Ulster County residents who wish to submit a crime tip through a secure network will now be able to do so right from their mobile phones and other digital options.

Sheriff Paul J. VanBlarcum announced that the county has adopted Tipsoft technology to provide a new channel for providing information in addition to the phone and email options already available.

The phone app and computer software can be used to report a variety of potentially criminal situations, including pictures or other media which will then be reviewed by a representative of the department.

VanBlarcum said tips can also be provided anonymously as well to provide protection for those submitting the information.

With these new options the sheriff said he hoped it will make it easier and more efficient for those residents who so desire to provide help to their local law enforcement agencies.

Tipsoft software can be found as a mobile app for android and iOS devices, the Sheriff's Facebook page now has a "submit a Tip" button, as does the Sheriff's website, or go to the Tipsoft website for the agency.

As was previously the case, tips can also be texted to 274637, called into 1-845-340-3599, or emailed to sheriff@co.ulster.ny.us.
