We've avoided it all season long, but today we finally got hit with a big snow storm.

Winter Storm Niko is making its way through the Hudson Valley and basically the entire North East. Today wont be fun, clearing snow off our cars and shoveling our driveways however, lets look at the glass half full. We'll have some serious powder for winter fun this weekend. The Hudson Valley has a ton of places you can go to enjoy the winter weather.

If you're a skier then you know you have your pick of several ski resorts in and around the Hudson Valley. Thunder Ridge, Mount Peter and Catamount are all open and ready for you to tear it up with your skis and snowboards.  If you're into tubing you can head out to Orange County and tube down their 800 foot hill at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery.

I've always wanted to snow shoe and this weekend seems perfect. Considering I don't know much about snow shoeing a class would be helpful. Sam's Point Reserve in Minnewaska State Park is offering hour lessons every Saturday in February and March. Lessons are free, but if you need snowshoes you can rent them on site for $5.

With all this new snow what will you being doing this weekend?
