What’s Happening This Weekend in the Hudson Valley
Goodbye April, hello May. The leaves are returning to the trees, flowers are in bloom, and doesn't the grass look greener than it did a week or so ago? Celebrate spring in the Hudson Valley by taking advantage of some of the many events and activities going in through the area this weekend. Here's a few ideas with links to find even more.
Saturday, April 29; 8-4: 47th Annual Wappinger Creek Water Derby from Pleasant Valley to Greenvale Park. This 8 mile canoe or kayak race will take place on the Wappinger Creek with the first boats leaving at 8 am and the last boats leaving at 3 pm. While there is a fee to enter, everyone is welcome to come out and cheer for free. Trophies will be awarded in various classes. Saturday, April 29; 9-5: Come out for Jeffersonville's 5K Sap Run and Maple Syrup Festival. The day starts with the Sap Run and then learn all about making maple syrup in New York while you enjoy foods, kids activities, live music, demonstrations and more throughout the day. Saturday, April 29; 11-3: Community Celebration Day in Kingston at the Broadway Commons, next to UPAC. The event is free, so come out and have a fun day with the Two by Two petting zoo, the Hip Hop Juggler, stilt walkers, DJ Andre, delicious food and more. Event will be held rain or shine. Saturday, April 29; 8-8: Come see Tulips at the Orange County Arboretum at Thomas Bull Memorial Park. Have your cameras ready.
