What Should Come Into This Adorable Empty Hudson Valley Store?
A new store should occupy this empty space and bring a new business into the Dutchess County area.
There's something really quaint about a small town store and having a spot in the area that isn't a big chain. Big stores can be a bit overwhelming (they are nice, but it's a lot) and having a small town spot can feel more mellow. Small town stores and specialty shops make you feel like you're living in one of those small towns that you see in a Hallmark movie where everything is peaceful.
I was recently on Facebook the other day and a few people mentioned how one area of the Hudson Valley used to have an adorable store and how people have been missing it. This conversation was happening in a local group and people couldn't help but comment on how great this one store used to be.
The store was in Dutchess County (the Hopewell Junction area) and the building it was located in is on Fishkill Hook Road. I just gave you some pretty big clues LOL any guesses on the former store I'm talking about?
What adorable used to be open in the Dutchess County area?
It's the the Wiccopee General Store and it used to be at 24 Fishkill Hook Road. Many local people loved the charm and character of the store and everything it brought into the area. According to historical officials, the Wiccopee General Store not only served as the general store, but also the Post Office for many years. Wiccopee is located on the western border of East Fishkill and you probably have driven by it without realizing it.
The other day I drove by the old Wiccopee General Store and I did how cute it really is. It's literally in the middle of neighborhood and a new business would be great for the people who live in that area. Some of residents could even walk to the store and I bet you could get some neighborhood kids to work there and help out.
The question is....what should go there? Here's what I've been thinking of:
- Bring back the Wiccopee General Store
- A small coffee shop
- An ice cream spot
- A deli
- A flower shop
- A small craft store
- Another specialty shop
Either way...something new should go in there. We hope to see something occupy the space over the next few years.
What do you think should go where the old Wiccopee General store is? Share your answers with us on the station app:
