18 Year Sentence For New Windsor Man on Manslaughter Charge
It'll be a lengthy prison sentence followed by a five year post-release supervision period for an Orange County man who recently pled guilty to manslaughter charges.

October 2024 Murder in the City of Newburgh
Court documents alleged that on October 13, 2024, an altercation took place in the City of Newburgh, and resulted in a stabbing. Following the altercation, around 10:45pm on 10/13/24, it was alleged that a New Windsor man retrieved 'several kitchen knives from a residence and approached a man who was laying on West Parmenter Street,' and then 'repeatedly stabbed him to death.'

Following the stabbing, the City of Newburgh Police Department launched an investigation, identified a suspect, and later identified 26-year-old Cameron Williams, of New Windsor, he was later arrested.
Police Reports indicate that Williams did make an admission during the plea proceedings.
Williams admitted to intending to cause the victim serious physical injury and thereby causing his death by stabbing him multiple times with multiple knives.
Orange County DA Shares Guilty Plea
During proceedings on Thursday March 27th, in an Orange County Courtroom, it was reported that Williams did plead guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, this according to Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler. The DA's Office shared that it is 'expected' that Williams will receive a sentence of 18 years in prison, with a five year post release supervision period.
DA Hoovler shared his gratitude for the City of Newburgh Police for their 'quick response' and the investigation that led to the successful arrest and conviction.
The act of senseless violence committed by this defendant calls for stiff and meaningful punishment. While the defendant’s plea and promised sentence cannot bring the victim back, I hope that the resolution offers the friends and family of the victim a degree of closure.
Sentencing is scheduled to take place on June 18th.
