WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is returning and it’s coming to New York!
WWE’s legendary Saturday Night’s Main Event is officially making its comeback,
The company released Tuesday ,and it all kicks off on December 14 at the Legendary Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum—where the very first SNME took place in 1985.
As part of WWE’s new five-year deal with NBCUniversal, this will be the first of four quarterly primetime specials, airing live on NBC and simulcast on Peacock.
Now, I didn’t catch most of these moments live since I was born in 1984, but believe me, I rented my fair share of VHS tapes to soak in all the glory.
Back then, SNME was one of those rare gems that only aired when Saturday Night Live took a night off, so getting your hands on those old tapes felt like finding gold.
I can still remember the first time I watched the Megapowers form on that legendary October 3, 1987 episode. Hogan and Macho Man shaking hands was like witnessing history unfold.
Then there’s the steel cage match between Hulk Hogan and Paul Orndorff from March 1, 1986—pure electricity
. And of course, the iconic showdown between Hogan and André the Giant on February 5, 1988. These moments were larger than life, and SNME made them feel even more epic.
Saturday Night’s Main Event was special. It wasn’t just another weekly show; it was an event that defined an era of wrestling. And now, with the relaunch, we get to relive that excitement. December 14 is going to be a throwback and a new beginning all rolled into one!
