What Will The New York Yankees Look Like With Facial Hair?
It's about time...
That's what you'll hear from many loyal/lifetime fans when asked about the newly implemented facial hair policy that was announced by the New York Yankees today. It came as somewhat of a shock to some, that the long standing 'no beard' requirement for the iconic baseball team has been modified, and now we're left wondering, who's going to drop the razor, and what would some of our favorite Yanks look like on the field (not off, as pictured below)with facial hair.

'New Rules' Says Former Yankee Captain
Early Friday morning, social media feeds were full of posts, reshares, and personal commentary from Yankee fans and haters alike, following the formal statement from the team's Managing General Partner, Hal Steinbrenner, who made it clear that 'ultimately' the decision lies with him....Yankees players and other 'uniformed personnel' are now able to sport 'well groomed beards.' Naturally, the Yanks former captain, number two, Derek Jetaaaa, had to chime in.
Other notable former Yankees also stepped up to the plate, including the first ballot soon to be hall of famer CC Sabathia.

Yankees Loosen Facial Hair Policy in 2025
The original 'no beard' policy, established by Yankees owner George Steinbrenner back in 1976 also has a stipulation for hair length for players, though there's been no official word on whether or not that will be changing too. ESPN reported that George Steinbrenner put the policy in place because he felt like 'regulating the players' appearance would instill discipline.'
Fast forward, Hal Steinbrenner has shared that he doesn't want to miss out on the opportunity to improve the Yankees by losing out on a player because of the policy. Who knows what the future holds for the facial hair of current players who signed on knowing the policy when it came to playing in the Bronx.
It's been reported that the team was made aware of the change during a team meeting on Friday February 21st, and that the official 'well-groomed' policy would be announced as early as the end of the day. What went public from the team is below:
Just as controversial as everything else these days, commentary from both sides of the plate has been rolling in, with some Yankee fans curious to see which players decide to utilize the new policy, others claiming that those policies are what makes the Yankees who they are. Naturally, there's been some predictions as to who will sport the clean shaven look and who might show up on opening day with a 'clean beard.'
Baseball fans who understand the significance of this change, what do you say? Exciting times for the Yanks, or keep it clean?
