Though the accident on the Fireball ride at the Ohio State Fair is terrifying and tragic, will we let this deter us from enjoying rides at local fairs and theme parks this Summer? What are the odds of us being in a fatal accident on a ride?

There' so many outdoor activities to look forward to in the Summer. From days at the beach to concerts and events like the a county fair. The latest incident with the ride at The Great Escape in Lake George combined with the terrible accident that just occurred at The Ohio State Fair has caused many to question the safety of carnival and roller coaster rides across the country.

I do not want to seem insensitive or take away the severity of these incidents but we cannot let this deter us from enjoying ourselves at local fairs or amusement parks.

After all, according to Ask The Odds, your chances of dying on a roller coaster are 1 and 300 million. Your odds of dying in a car accident are 1 and 80 and your odds of slipping and cracking your head open in the bathroom and dying are 1 and 11,000.

Please don't give in to the fear culture that the media helps create. Enjoy your Summer and have some fun outside with your friends and family.
