$1 Million Scratch-Off Sold in Dutchess County
We love to see people in and around the Hudson Valley winning big with the New York Lottery.
If you like to try your luck at New York Lottery scratch-off tickets but like most people think that winning is never going to happen to you, let us share some good news with you from Dutchess County.
Congratulations to Pamela Miles from the Columbia County town of Ancramdale, who is a brand new millionaire according to Hudson Valley 360.
Miles said that she had been playing scratch offs for 25 years and always knew one day she’d get lucky and WOW did she. The day was December 5th and like she has done many times in the past, she went into J’s Millerton Market/Gulf Express on Route 44 in Millerton, to purchase two $10 Holiday Lucky X50 scratch-offs.
Miles told the website that she usually plays, and gets her money back and that, “I felt a little lucky with the holiday.”
Lucky she was, as she scratched her way to the bottom of the ticket she saw her lucky number, "40", three times and the winning jackpot number “37.” She said when she saw it, "I knew it wasn’t a lie” but she did get a bit nervous and headed home to show her husband, "My husband couldn’t believe it, he thought he dreamed it.”
The next day December 6th, she took the winning ticket to the East Fishkill lottery claim center to cash in and receive her winnings which after taxes totaled $671,800.
Miles plans to spend her new riches on a new car, taking a vacation with her husband, and paying off some bills. New York Lottery announcer Yolanda Vega presented Miles with the $1 million check on Wednesday at the winning store.
