3 Charged In Mob-Controlled Sports Betting Ring In Hudson Valley

Three men are accused of running a mob-controlled sports betting ring in the Hudson Valley.

On Friday, Brian Levine, 48, of Garnerville, 65-year-old John Andriello of Pearl River and 60-year-old Marco Minuto of New Jersey were charged with enterprise corruption and promoting gambling.

All three are accused of running a mob-controlled gambling ring and money laundering in Rockland County.

“These arrests close down a highly lucrative gambling operation that benefitted organized crime with large amounts of money every year. Make no mistake: illegal sports betting is by no means a victimless crime. Its proceeds underwrite more insidious forms of corruption, such as racketeering, drug trafficking and loan sharking," Rockland County District Attorney Kevin Gilleece said in a statement, according to NBC.

The men accepted bets on sporting events, including professional and college football, for an undisclosed mob organization taking in millions of dollars over the years, officials say.

The Rockland County District Attorney's Office Special Investigations Unit worked with New York State Police Special Investigations Unit, the FBI, Town of Clarkstown Police, Town of Orangetown Police, Village of Spring Valley Police, Village of Piermont Police, and police in New Jersey during their years-long investigation.
