5 Ways to Treat Mom for Mother’s Day and Support Local Businesses
Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10, 2020.
Just a heads up, Mother's Day is this Sunday. Even though we're in the middle of a pandemic, you got to celebrate mom. Especially now because mom could be playing a million more roles than she normally does. And I'm sure she's stressed about a bunch of things too, and rightfully so.
Obviously, Mother's Day has to be celebrated a little differently this year. The family can't all get together, you can't go out to eat. It's just different. But you can still treat mom! And you can do this all while celebrating local businesses. Here are five different ideas to celebrate Mother's Day and what local businesses you can support with them:
Brunch Takeout
You can still have your typical Mother's Day brunch, just in takeout form. Mill House Brewing Company in Poughkeepsie is doing brunch takeout from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. You can find the menu on their Facebook. Ole Savannah in Kingston is also doing brunch takeout. You can find the menu here.
Baked Goods
Who doesn't love a delicious baked good? Whether it's a pastry or a cupcake, you'll never go wrong. Sweet Bakes Cafe in Wappingers has a variety of baked goods to go. Their lineup includes cupcakes, cream puffs, and treat boxes. Adams Fairacre Farms has a bunch of locations in the Hudson Valley and has a huge bakery with different pastries, cakes, and cupcakes always ready to go.
Flowers
Don't think you can't get flowers for mom just because we're in a pandemic. Wright's Farm in Gardiner has tons of hanging baskets and potted flowers for sale. Secret Garden Florist in Montgomery is also doing flower orders for mom too.
Drinks to Go/Beer Delivery
If mom needs anything right now I'm SURE it's a drink. The Table in Montgomery is selling cocktails by the quart for curbside pickup. You can even get beer delivered right to mom too. Newburgh Brewing Company out of Newburgh is offering beer delivery.
Online Yoga Class
Mom could probably use a little alone time right now too. A good way for her to relax could be an online yoga class from a Hudson Valley yoga studio. The Body Art Barn in Blooming Grove is streaming a variety of classes each week. Hudson River Yoga in Poughkeepsie is doing live stream yoga classes too.
