With today being the first day of summer, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to think back on some of the awesome summer memories of the '90's.

This morning I heard Nick talking again about these educators who say kids should play outside for 4 hours a day, and I don't know about you, but that's exactly what I remember most of the summers of the '90's being for me.

Those last few weeks of school the entire neighborhood usually met up in someone's driveway or backyard and stayed out until we got yelled at to come in.  Forget summer vacation days, my parents would open the door first thing in the morning and we were GONE for the day, maybe popping in for a drink or something.

No cell phones.  No tablets.  No social media --- just hanging out, listening to music, house hopping around to the ones with the best pools, or the ones whose families always had the best snacks (don't lie, you know it's true).  Trips to Splash Down before the amazing expansion, Renegades games, going to the cheap movies at the South Hills Mall when it was too hot.

Does it get much better than that?  Do you have any other Hudson Valley related summer memories?

Check out this article from ScaryMommy for some other killer '90's summer memories, and why not disconnect a bit and enjoy the great outdoors and all the Hudson Valley summer has to offer this year :)
