Chances are, if you aren't directly connected to someone whose child has battled a life-threatening illness, you know someone who has, or currently is. This Saturday in Pleasant Valley is for them.

Angels of Rock at Freedom Park, Pleasant Valley

On Saturday, September 20th, the Hudson Valley (and beyond) is invited to join in on a wonderful day to raise both funds and awareness for this special group of children and their families. Angels of Rock will be taking place at Freedom Park, 212 Skidmore Road in Pleasant Valley. Doors open at 12pm and music will begin at 12:30.

Local musicians include Beacon's School of Rock House Band, Publik Johnson, Muscle Shoals and Jungle Love.

Local food and drink vendors include Twisted Soul, I Morsi Pizza, Whipped Cupcake, the Craft Beer Guild of NY, Zeus Brewing, Industrial Arts, Millhouse Brewing, Round Table Brewery and Hudson Ale Works.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20, or $30 at the door on Saturday.

Amy Tricamo, whose nephew Brady was diagnosed with leukemia in December of 2022 at age 3, is a huge advocate for the event:

This event is honestly such a fun way to spend a Saturday—great bands, awesome vendors, and just good vibes all around. Angels of Light means so much to our community. They keep every dollar raised right here in the Hudson Valley, helping families like mine in ways we’ll never forget. It’s personal for us, and I’m beyond grateful.

What is Angels of Light?

An organization supporting children and their families right here in the Hudson Valley, the Angels of Light mission is as follows:

To assist children and families with a life threatening illness, or whose life has been suddenly altered by an accident or loss of life, living or receiving treatment in the Hudson Valley.

Donations to the organization, and funds raised through events like Angels of Rock go towards basic necessities such as costly medical bills, utilities, food and gas expenses, lodging during treatment, and more. They also do special events and programs that help to raise funds that will help children celebrate the holidays and special occasions.

Angels of Rock Honors Dr. Danny Perkes

The 2025 Angels of Rock event this year will honor Danny Perkes, a proud Angels of Light Board Member who was an Ob/Gyn for more than 30 years, delivering more than 4,000 babies before his retirement. An Angels of Light board member since 2019, Dr. Perkes (pictured below on stage performing, one of his hobbies) has shared that he 'finds profound joy in bringing comfort and light to families during their most difficult times.'

Though retired from practicing medicine, Dr. Perkes is currently a professor in the PA program at Marist University, and also serves as a medical legal advisor. Recently undergoing a double lung and liver transplant, he's been characterized as 'a true walking miracle' showing resilience, a sense of humor, and high spirits after his medical procedures just two months ago.
