Do you think that you have to wait until October to be scared? How about checking out places that are haunted in the Hudson Valley all year long?

Are these the scariest places? You will need to decide. If there is a place that you think we should add, please email brandi@wrrv.com, with the address and why you think it should be added to the list. In the interim, what do you think of these places?

  • The Shanley Hotel, is a bed and breakfast style hotel that operates all year long in Napanoch, NY.
  • Mohonk Mountain House, New Paltz, NY. This hotel is a grand estate that is said to have been the inspiration behind the Overlook Hotel in the movie The Shining. This hotel dates back to 1869. There apparently are people that think it is haunted and others say that there has never been proof. Have you ever stayed there?
  • Marist College, Sheahan Hall. Yes, Marist College -- the one on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie. Apparently, there was a female student, who was killed in this hall in 1975 by someone whose affections she did not return. Have you been to this hall?
  • Hoyt House in Staatsburg. This house dates back to 1855 and is also known as "The Point." The house has been recently purchased with hopes of restoring it. According to hauntedplaces.org, the family that originally owned the home all committed suicide in the house. Is that true?

Is there a place that you think is more haunted than the ones listed above? Let us know.
