Axe Throwing Alleys Coming to Two Hudson Valley Locations
A new form of entertainment is coming to Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls.
The Hudson Valley has lots of ways to blow off some steam during the winter. You can go bouncing on a trampoline, rock climbing, bowling and even whack some balls at indoor golf. But now things are being raised to a whole new level.
Axe throwing is gaining popularity across the nation. Think of it as a more challenging, deadly version of darts. Teams rent a lane that comes with a huge wooden target and super sharp axes. Competitors hurl their axes at the target as hard as they can, hoping to land a bullseye.
While challenging and fun, the sport of axe throwing isn't something you can do just anywhere. That's why axe enthusiasts are very excited to hear that competitions will be startup up soon in Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls.
Spins Bowl has announced that axe throwing lanes are coming to their locations on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls and Taft Avenue in Poughkeepsie. According to the company's website, axe throwing lanes will be available for parties, groups or just individuals looking to improve their throw. Up to six people will be allowed on a lane, and a 60-minute session will cost $24 per person. Private lanes will also be available for $110 an hour.
Axe pros will be on duty and posted with all throwers throughout the experience. In addition to other safety measures, participants must also be 16 or older. According to Spins Bowl, the axe throwing lanes are now open in Poughkeepsie and coming soon to Wappingers Falls.
Those who want to give axe throwing a try should probably reserve their lanes in advance. You can follow Spins Bowl's Facebook page for more information on reservations and when the attraction is scheduled to open in Wappingers.
