Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. And don't do anything if you can't take the mean comments on the internet. A Hudson Valley man was arrested after allegedly robbing an M&T Bank in Sullivan County on Friday, but commenters had more to say about what the suspect was wearing than the actual crime.

Bank Robbery in Monticello, NY

On Friday, April 8th, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office posted a plea for help from the public after a reported bank robbery.

[A] witness told sheriffs' detectives that a white male... entered the bank at about 1:20 pm and passed a note to the teller stating he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank with a sum of U.S. Currency. The Sheriff’s Office has obtained a warrant for the suspect identified as Charles Pratt, 33, of Watertown, NY.

The Sheriff's office added that Pratt was suspected to have fled to New York City in a stolen car, and asked anyone who spotted him or the car to call 911. After surveillance footage of the alleged robbery was released, however, many Facebook users were more focused on what the suspect was wearing at the time of the crime.

Caught in New York City

Maybe it was the suspect being arrested in Manhattan on Sunday afternoon that loosened the Hudson Valley's mood and turned their attention to what Charles Pratt was wearing in the bank on Friday, but either way, they have a good point. During the alleged robbery, Pratt was not wearing a mask.

You have a free pass to wear a mask and cover yourself and he chooses not to!

And they have a point. If the past two years did anything, it was give people free reign to cover their faces wherever they were. Most of us would be liars if we said that the thought "wow, kind of a good time to be a bank robber" didn't cross our minds more than a few times. "Didn't leave much for the guessing part of the investigation did he" said a Facebook user. And it wasn't just the absence of a mask that riled up the internet...

Adds a bright Orange shirt to the scenario too!

Yup. The suspect walked in bare-faced and in a high-visibility shirt for the alleged robbery. "Excellent use of camouflage…" added a commenter. This may be a robbery that will live in infamy in the Hudson Valley. Where are we most likely to see crime in New York State? Check out the list below.
